Dallas

Dallas is a community located in the Eastern sector of Kamloops, just off Highway #1, acting as the passage to Barnhartvale. Conveniently located a 10 minute from downtown Kamloops and only a short 30 minute drive to Shuswap Lake, Dallas is sought after area for residents who seek a quiet, more serene place to call home.

Dallas Town Centre, which is located right off the highway exit offers a grocery store, gas station, fast food dining and more, which makes this neighbourhood a great option for those wishing to be away from the hustle and bustle of Kamloops while still having all the conveniences.  Dallas is home to the Pineridge Golf Course, an eighteen-hole course that is great for both casual and more serious golfers. The BC Wildlife Park  which is a popular attraction for families is located only minutes from the community.

Dallas Elementary School is located just off Dallas Drive on Harper Road. Secondary students attend Valleyview Secondary School in nearby Valleyview. Families in nearby Campbell Creek nearby Wildlife Park attend RLC in Barnhartvale.

HISTORY

Dallas was named for Alexander Grant Dallas, the son in law of Governor, James Douglas. Alexander was an agent for the Hudson’s Bay Company in colonial British Columbia and Vancouver Island, serving also as Chief Factor of Fort Garry from 1862 to 1864.
