Knutsford/Lac Le Jeune

Knutsford is a community located South, approximately 15 minutes from the City of Kamloops. The most Northern end of the community lies within the city limits of the city, while the majority lies in the Thompson Nicola Regional District. The area offers grasslands and a number of small fishing lakes. Residents in this area typically use the land as a source of income with hay and cattle grazing being the most popular sources. Generally referred to as the Old Merritt Highway, Highway 5A runs through the area and is the main road that connects Knutsford to Kamloops and surrounding areas. While the area mostly consists of small to large acreages, there are a number of smaller residences spread throughout.

In respect to land and housing, the Lac Le Jeune area shares a geographical space with Knutsford although local residents define this area as two separate communities. The Lac Le Jeune area can be accessed from Highway 1 or through Highway 5A with a number of properties directly surrounding the lakes in the area. There is a number of year-round residents that live in the community, along with a couple manufactured home parks there is also a mixture of resorts and vacation homes.

HISTORY

Knutsford received its name, thanks for Robert Longridge who was a rancher in the area around 1912. He named the area after Knutsford, Cheshire England.
