Westsyde
Westsyde is a residential neighbourhood in the city located on the west bank of the North Thomson River. With approximately 8,500 residents, this neighbourhood feels like a small town with the convenience of a city. Only 15 minutes from the City Centre, it offers residents large, flat lots, and a mix of well-kept mature homes as well as new houses. Outdoor enthusiasts will love Westsyde, with plenty to do for all ages.
Centennial Park is conveniently located mid way down Westsyde Road along the North Thompson River and features ball fields, a spray park, petting zoo, access to hiking trails and many other amenities. Further down Westsyde Road is The Dunes golf course which caters to all levels of players with your choice of four tees. The Westsyde Pool and Community Centre with pool, hot tubs and fitness facility was extensively renovated in 2017 and is a beloved recreational spot for residents. The Lac Du Bois Grasslands Park, a protected nature park that borders Westsyde and Batchelor Heights features plenty of hiking/walking trails, fishing and more with access from a multitude of points across the neighbourhood.
SCHOOLS
Primary students may attend one of the elementary schools in the area;. Westsyde Elementary, Arthur Stevenson Elementary or David Thompson Elementary. High schools students attend Westsyde Secondary School. Students in Gr 7-9 attend Brock Middle School which shares a field with Kay Bingham. Secondary students attend Norkam Secondary School which offers a Trades and Technology program thanks to their partnership with Thompson Rivers University. On the North Side of Kamloops there is also multiple private and schools of choice (OLPH, Bert Edwards School of Technology, Kamloops Christian School and École Collines-D’Or).
