Aberdeen
Aberdeen is a neighbourhood in the southern area of Kamloops, British Columbia. It is bordered by Highway 5A (also known as the Old Merritt Highway) to the east and the Trans Canada Highway to the north.
As one of the fastest-growing neighbourhoods in Kamloops, Aberdeen has become a popular location to live for both new and current residents. While Aberdeen is primarily residential, there are several major retailers located in the area such as Costco & Canadian Tire. The largest shopping and entertainment centres in Kamloops is also located in the area; Aberdeen Mall. From the shopping centre one can walk or take a short transit ride to Cascades Casino and dine in one of many restaurants. Due to the short proximity from two major highways, Aberdeen is also home to many of the city’s hotels, mainly situated on the Rogers Way corridor between Hugh Allan Drive.
Thompson Rivers University and Tournament Capital Centre are only a five minute drive from the community and there are multiple bus routes available for residents. The TCC houses the Canada Games Aquatic Center, indoor tracks, gymnastics, basketball courts and a multitude of major sporting events throughout the year including the BC Lions training camp.
SCHOOLS
There are two elementary schools in the area, Aberdeen Elementary , and Pacific Way Elementary . Only a short distance from the community is Sahali Secondary and South Kamloops Secondary that serves the older student population from the area.
